Grand Opening of Farmers Market

The entire community came out to celebrate the official Grand Opening of the Dandridge Farmers Market on Saturday, June 11th. Local farmers brought their freshest fruits, vegetables and plants, some in their fields past midnight to provide only the best for their customers. Thirteen vendors participated along with Maury Middle School hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser for the Booster Club. Fresh baked pies and breads, dry rubs, pastas and eggs were also available at the market.

Town and County officials came out to celebrate the Grand Opening, including Town Administrator Jim Hutchins, Vice Mayor Mike Chambers, Alderman David Jones, and County Commissioners Marty Mills and Clark Maples.  All offered congratulations as the Farmers Market begins it 4th year and thanks for connecting growers with residents while stimulating the local economy.

The Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8 AM-Noon at the stoplight intersection in historic downtown Dandridge. To sign up for weekly Farmers Market e-newsletters, email office@mainstreetdandridge.com.

Farmers Market GenericWant some fresh and locally grown food? Save your gas money and come to the Dandridge Farmers Market on Saturdays from 8 AM - Noon at the parking lot on the corner of Meeting and Gay Streets near the new stoplight (Hwy 92 and US 25/70 - one block north of the Jefferson County Courthouse.)  The Market starts June 12th and will end in the fall, dependent on this year's growing season.

TomatoesTake advantage of having the freshest fruits, vegetables, eggs, honey and many other farm products while supporting our local economy.  All Vendors are local farmers and none are reselling items.  Many organically grow their produce.  So come on down, stock up, and eat local produce.

The Market is presented by the Dandridge Main Street Program in cooperation with the Town of Dandridge, and the UT Jefferson County Extension.  Sponsors are Farm Bureau, Farm Credit, and Jefferson Farmers Cooperative, who are helping to match grant funds from the Tennessee Dept. of Economic and Community Development Main Street Innovation Grant.

Farmers Market Shoppers1Many merchants in historic downtown Dandridge are offering discount coupons to Farmers Market shoppers.  The market will help retain agricultural lands in Jefferson County, support the Jefferson County economy, and offer consumers the best in locally grown fresh foods.

Some event programs feature the Jefferson County 4-H Club, cooking demonstrations, tomato contests, and other fun and informative activities.
